Mayor Vico Sotto Slams Pasig City Hall Employee for Accepting Bribe
A Pasig City hall employee was arrested during an entrapment operation for allegedly soliciting and accepting a bribe worth P10,000.
Pasig City Mayor Vico Sotto expressed frustration upon learning that a city hall employee had been caught accepting bribes. The corrupt government worker was arrested during an entrapment operation.
A job order employee from Pasig City Hall is currently in hot water after reportedly soliciting and accepting a P10,000 bribe. The bribe was allegedly in exchange for speeding up a signature from the Office of the Building Official.
Mayor Vico Sotto exposed the incident during a speech after the flag-raising ceremony. He disclosed that the employee had initially demanded P15,000 but eventually settled for P10,000.
“Dahil humingi po siya ng P15,000 at mukhang hindi niya ito first time gawin. Actually P10,000 na lang ang tinanggap niya. Nakipag-tawaran pa eh,” Sotto said.
Sotto mentioned that he had personally recommended this individual for a position at city hall, but he emphasized that he does not tolerate such behavior.
The city mayor emphasized the need to address corruption within the local government. Despite his personal connection with the employee, he stressed that when it comes to crimes, there is no room for favoritism.
“Para sa kaalaman po ng lahat, ‘yung tao po na ito, kaibigan ko. Ako po ang nag-recommend sa kanya na ipasok siya sa city hall. Pero napatunayan natin, naipakita po natin sa lahat na walang kaibi-kaibigan dito,” he added.
The mayor reminded city hall employees of his commitment to eradicating corruption and establishing a culture of good governance.
