Pregnant Teacher Accidentally Punched While Trying to Stop Fight Between Students Inside School Campus
A pregnant teacher was injured after she was accidentally punched while trying to stop a fight between two Grade 10 students in Basilan.
On Wednesday (July 15, 2026), the incident began with a heated argument between the two students. The verbal disagreement quickly escalated into a physical fight inside the classroom, causing concern among classmates and school personnel.
According to school officials, the teacher stepped in and attempted to separate the students. While trying to calm them down, she was accidentally struck by a punch during the confrontation.
The teacher sustained injuries and was immediately brought to the nearest hospital for medical attention. Because she is pregnant, doctors carefully examine both her and her unborn child to make sure they were safe and in stable condition.
Fortunately, after undergoing the necessary medical tests and evaluations, doctors confirmed that both the teacher and her baby were doing well. She was later allowed to return home and was advised to rest and recover from the incident.
School administrators explained that the OIC-School Principal Dr. Arnel Balang Hajan was not on campus when the incident happened because he was recovering from dengue fever. Before taking medical leave, he had already assigned a temporary official to oversee the school’s daily operations.
Meanwhile, the two students involved in the fight were immediately referred to the school’s Guidance Office. They are currently undergoing investigation and will face the appropriate disciplinary procedures based on school policies and regulations.
The school administration is also continuing its inquiry into the cause of the conflict. Statements from witnesses, students, and other individuals connected to the incident are being gathered to better understand what led to the altercation.
