Lineman Lost His While Installing Transformer on Electrical Post
A lineman lost his life after being accidentally electrocuted while working on an electrical post in Barangay Tapuac, Dagupan City, Pangasinan.
The victim was identified as Arnel Idos, an employee of the Dagupan Electric Corporation (DeCorp) who had been serving as a lineman for the past six years. The incident happened while he and his team were installing an additional transformer on a utility pole as part of their work in the area.
The operation was proceeding normally when an unexpected accident happened. Barangay officials said a power line suddenly became detached from its connection to the main line.
The loose wire reportedly came into contact with Idos, causing him to suffer a strong electric shock.
“Aksidente lang na kumalas talaga at sumagi somewhere sa katawan niya,” barangay chairman Sidney Lomboy said.
Fellow workers and responders immediately rushed to assist the victim. He was brought to a hospital for emergency treatment, but despite efforts to save him, he later passed away.
The victim’s mother struggled to accept the sudden loss of her son. She expressed hope that a thorough investigation would be conducted to determine the incident.
The victim and his coworkers were reportedly wearing the necessary safety equipment at the time of the accident. Even so, authorities continue to examine the circumstances surrounding the incident to better understand how it happened.
Meanwhile, DeCorp has launched its own investigation into the case. Company officials said they are committed to determining the cause of the accident and ensuring that proper procedures are reviewed.
The power distribution company also assured the victim’s family that assistance would be provided during this difficult time. Immediate support and other necessary services are expected to be extended to the bereaved family as they cope with the loss of their loved one.
