Elijah Canlas was asked about his current relationship status
Kapamilya actor Elijah Canlas has broken his silence on his breakup with Eat Bulaga host Miles Ocampo and being linked to Kapuso star Thea Astley.
Last July, rumors surfaced that Elijah and Miles had broken up. This came after the circulation of a video showing that Elijah and Thea were together, and a part of this showed that the actor held the Kapuso star’s wrist.
Previously, Elijah had a meaningful statement regarding the status of his heart, which he said was not in a happy place. This garnered speculations that it was a subtle confirmation of his breakup with Miles.
In his interview on “Ogie Diaz Inspires,” uploaded to YouTube this Tuesday, September 1, the actor spoke up to clarify the situation, based on the article in Bandera.
Elijah Canlas confirmed that he and Miles Ocampo had already separated a few months ago.
“As much as I’ve been trying to keep it private, syempre we are ongoing through it pero dahil lumalabas na ito lahat, I think it’s time for me to say na opo, totoo siya [na break na kami] and out of respect for Miles, I will always have love for her, parang kailangang sabihin na lang rin [dahil] may mga speculations na mas nagpapalala pa sa pinagdaraanan ko, sa pinagdaraanan namin,” the actor shared.
He also shared that the most painful part of this was that they got back together after their previous separation, and they were thinking, ‘this is it.’ However, things still did not work out well after they had given their best.
“And we broke up mutually and very amicably. And walang hate, at least on my part,” he said.
The actor admits that the breakup was painful for him, especially since they hadn’t encountered any specific problems; they simply realized that they might not be truly compatible.
Elijah did not go into further detail about the breakup, out of respect for his former partner.
He just hoped that speculations would stop, even though he knew that they are public figures, and somehow, they can’t avoid this.
“Minsan masakit kasi hindi nila alam ‘yung totoo, wala naman silang alam, that’s how I like to keep it. ‘Yung pinagdaanan namin, amin ‘yun. ‘Yung pagmamahalan namin, amin ‘yun. So sana po respetuhin ng mga tao ‘yun. And sana go easy with Miles, go easy on me, and let us heal,” the actor added.
Furthermore, Elijah Canlas has also spoken up regarding the circulating allegations of a third party and accusations that he is a cheater.
Earlier, Thea Astley had already denied her alleged romantic involvement with the Kapamilya actor.
Elijah stated that people’s reactions were truly overblown and unfair to him, insisting that the rumors circulating about him and Thea were fake news.
The actor also wished the best for his ex-partner, including her happiness, and hopes that the time will come when they can be friends again.
