Newly Opened Shop Targeted in Attempted Break-In, Female Entrepreneur Left Shaken
A female entrepreneur was left distressed after a thief allegedly attempted to break into her newly opened shop.
Recently, Shiela Mae Candelario, a Facebook user, shared a photo of her shop that was reportedly targeted by a burglar even though it had only recently started operating. Her post quickly went viral and drew various reactions from the online community.
According to the shop owner, her business had been operating for less than a week when it became a target of an attempted burglary. The store sells cellphone accessories and beauty products, making the incident even more discouraging for someone who had just started building her business.
Initial information suggested that the attempted break-in may have happened late Monday night or during the early hours of Tuesday, September 1. The suspect reportedly damaged the shop’s main padlock in an effort to gain entry.
Fortunately, the person failed to get inside after encountering a second layer of security in the form of a deadbolt lock.
Candelario later shared that her father had reminded her to double-check the deadbolt before leaving the shop. She believed that simple reminder played a major role in preventing the suspect from successfully entering the establishment.
The owner admitted feeling overwhelmed after realizing how close the shop came to being robbed. Having invested time, effort, and savings into opening the business, the thought of losing merchandise only days after opening was heartbreaking.
The shop was not the only establishment targeted in the area. Other business owners also reportedly went to the barangay hall to record similar incidents. The female entrepreneur remained thankful that no items were stolen and that the additional lock helped protect the shop.
