Unclaimed Mussels Causes Bad Smell Along Diversion Road in Palawan
The unclaimed mussels or ‘tahong’ left along Diversion Road in Palawan, were causing foul smell in the area, the owner is being asked to claim the items.
In Barangay 3, Roxas, Palawan, residents and motorists passing through Diversion Road near a gas station have been dealing with a foul smell coming from several sacks of mussels that were left in the area and remain unclaimed after several days.
The mussels were reportedly unloaded along the roadside a few days ago, but no one has returned to collect them. As time passed, the seafood began to spoil, producing a strong odor that has become a concern for nearby businesses and people passing through the area.
One of those affected is a gas station located close to where the sacks were left. Employees said the smell has become increasingly difficult to ignore and has started affecting both workers and customers.
Some customers have reportedly complained about the unpleasant odor whenever they visit the station.
Cristian Lizardo, an employee of the gas station, shared that the sacks have been sitting in front of the establishment for several days. With the mussels already spoiled, the smell has spread around the area and created discomfort for many people.
“Kung sino po may-ari nitong tahong na binaba sa harap ng Caltex pakikuha na po mabaho na po kasi pati customer namin nag-rireklamo na. Ilang araw na po ito dito. maraming salamat po.” Lizardo said.
Spoiled seafood can produce a very strong smell, especially when left outdoors for an extended period under warm weather conditions. Aside from causing discomfort, it can also attract insects and create sanitation concerns if not properly disposed of.
