Sen. Ping Lacson Slams Unnamed Senator-Judge in VP Sara Duterte Impeachment Trial
PING LACSON – The Senator chided an unnamed senator-judge who is allegedly “bopol” in the impeachment trial of Vice President Sara Duterte.
The ongoing impeachment trial of Vice Pres. Sara Duterte remains to elicit various reactions and be the center of headlines. Four (4) impeachment raps were previously filed against Duterte and two (2) were announced sufficient in form, substance, and grounds by the House of Representatives’ Committee on Justice.

Here are some of the grounds raised against Duterte:
- Alleged culpable violation of the Constitution and betrayal of public trust, and other high crimes in amassing and converting the amount over PHP 500 million confidential funds (CF) allocated to the Office of the Vice President from 2022 to 2023
- Alleged culpable violation of the Constitution and betrayal of public trust, and other high crimes in amassing and converting the amount of not less than PHP 112.5 million of confidential funds allocated to the Department of Education (DepEd) for the year 2023
- Alleged culpable violation of the Constitution and betrayal of public trust by corrupting and bribing officials of the DepEd
- Alleged culpable violation of the Constitution, betrayal of public trust, and other high crimes in contracting to murder or assassinate the president, the first lady, and the former speaker of the House
- Alleged culpable violation of the Constitution and betrayal of public trust in amassing unexplained wealth and failing to disclose all her properties and interests in properties in her SALN
- Alleged culpable violation of the Constitution and betrayal of public trust in committing acts of political destabilization and the high crimes of sedition and insurrection

On July 6, 2026, the impeachment trial of Vice Pres. Sara Duterte which Davao Mayor Baste Duterte said was “three years in the making” started. Sen. Chiz Escudero was elected as the presiding officer of the impeachment court.

Escudero’s election did not have the support of the minority bloc who believes that Senate Pres. Sherwin Gatchalian should allegedly be the presiding officer. Gatchalian supported Escudero as he wants a different head on the impeachment trial while he focuses on the whole Senate duties.

The senator-judges had their own clashes and disagreements amid the ongoing impeachment trial. Previously, Senator-judge Ping Lacson even commended his fellow senator-judges for keeping their cool allegedly amid a fellow of them lecturing them about impeachment say day one.
Recently, Sen. Ping Lacson chided an unnanmed senator anew. Based on News5, the majority Senator-judge said he likes listening when the lawyers of the prosecution and the defense are excellent. However, there’s allegedly a senator-judge who is “bopol” or dull-minded.
“Kapag magaling ang mga abugado ng prosekusyon at depensa, masarap makinig… Problem, kapag may umentra na senator-judge na ‘bopol’, nakakabobo naman,” Lacson said based on the post.
Previously, Vice Pres. Sara Duterte called on her enemies in politics to stop the alleged fake call for transparency and accountability.
