Bongbong Marcos On Senate Drama: “I watched with horror”

Pres. Bongbong Marcos has this reaction to the controversial incidents in the Senate

President Bongbong Marcos said that he watched the Senate drama “with horror” as the issues are becoming “personal.”

The incidents in the Philippine Senate created an unexpected buzz as the scenes were likened to teleserye dramas. It started when Sen. Bato dela Rosa broke his hiatus and suddenly appeared at the plenary session.

His unexpected incident went viral as a CCTV footage showing that he almost stumbled on the stairs just to get away from the agents of the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) circulated online.

With that, the Senate leadership changed. Dela Rosa and his allies voted for Sen. Alan Peter Cayetano as the new Senate President.

A few days later, Dela Rosa went missing again after the Senate shooting incident. With his absence, once again, Sen. Rodante Marcoleta proposed to amend the Senate to allow senators to attend the sessions remotely. To show the Minority Bloc’s opposition to this, the 11 senators walked out.

Based on the report from Inquirer, speaking before the members of the media, President Bongbong Marcos shared his thoughts on the recent controversial incidents in the Senate.

“I watched with horror that the Senate has become this,” the chief executive said.

For several terms, Marcos also served as a Senator, and he pointed out that this was the first time he encountered this kind of situation in which the attacks were becoming “personal.” “The discourse had gone shallow. Nothing like that happened during my time in the Senate,” the President said.

He also said that he never imagined that the Senate would descend into this kind of situation.

Meanwhile, Pres. Bongbong Marcos‘s sister, Sen. Imee Marcos, said in a statement that the Majority Bloc’s senators are being attacked through legal complaints. On Friday, the Sandiganbayan released an arrest warrant against Sen. Jinggoy Estrada, in line with his alleged involvement in the anomalous flood control projects.
