LTO Summons Vlogger Over Viral Prank Video w/ Man Pretending to be Gasoline Boy
The Land Transportation Office issued a Show Cause Order against a vlogger who made his employee run after a vehicle in a viral prank video.
In a post on its official Facebook page, the Land Transportation Office announced that it had filed a Show Cause Order against the vlogger, the driver, and the registered owner of a vehicle involved in a viral social media video.
The incident showed a gasoline station attendant running after a moving vehicle along Maharlika Highway in Allacapan, Cagayan. The vehicle, identified as a Toyota Land Cruiser, was slowly driving away while the attendant chased it under the heat of the sun.

Based on the investigation, the person recording the video was inside the vehicle and either instructed or allowed the driver to continue driving while the attendant struggled to keep up. The act was seen as dangerous and irresponsible, especially since it put another person at risk.
Because of this, the LTO ordered those involved to appear before the agency and explain why they should not face administrative penalties. These include possible violations such as reckless driving and being declared unfit to operate a motor vehicle.
As part of the initial action, the driver has already surrendered his license and is now under a 90-day preventive suspension. The vehicle used in the incident has also been placed under alarm status.

LTO Chief Markus V. Lacanilao strongly criticized the act, stressing that vehicles should never be used in ways that can harm or disrespect others, even for content creation.
The agency also reminded the public that using vehicles comes with responsibility. Actions done for entertainment should never put people in danger or violate the law.
The social media users expressed their reactions to the post:
