Fuel Subsidy for TNVS Drivers & Bus Operators Begins Distribution in Metro Manila

DSWD Starts Distribution of Fuel Subsidy for TNVS Drivers & Bus Operators in Metro Manila

The distribution of fuel subsidy for TNVS drivers and bus operators has started in Metro Manila to help ease the impact of rising fuel prices.

On Tuesday (March 24, 2026), the Department of Social Welfare and Development began distributing a cash subsidy worth P5,000 to transport network vehicle service drivers. The program aims to support around 27,000 drivers who are part of various ride-hailing platforms such as Grab, Maxim, Toktok, Pure Ride, and InDrive.

According to DSWD Secretary Rex Gatchalian, the assistance is meant to help drivers cope with the increasing cost of fuel. Many transport workers have been struggling to keep up with daily expenses as oil prices continue to rise due to ongoing tensions in the Middle East.

For many TNVS drivers, fuel is one of their biggest daily expenses. With additional support, they can continue working without having to worry too much about sudden increases in fuel costs. The subsidy is expected to help them maintain their income while continuing to provide transport services to the public.

At the same time, bus operators are also receiving assistance. A fuel subsidy worth P10,000 per bus unit has started to be distributed at the Parañaque Integrated Terminal Exchange. This support is expected to benefit 27 bus operators, covering a total of 1,096 bus units.

According to representatives from the transport sector, the subsidy will help them continue their operations and avoid service disruptions. Instead of reducing trips or stopping operations due to high fuel costs, bus operators can continue serving commuters who rely on public transportation every day.
