Female Student Passenger Expresses Frustration w/ Jeepney Driver Over His Behavior
A female student passenger felt disappointed with a jeepney driver because of the way he behaved and treated her during their encounter.
Recently, Kristine Cluie Zubiri, a Facebook user, shared her experience online about how the driver treated her. The post quickly went viral and received various reactions from the online community.
Zubiri explained that the incident happened while she was riding a jeepney bound for Balagtas. As soon as she got on the vehicle, she immediately handed her fare to the driver. She paid 11 pesos, explaining that she was a student.

Even though there were no classes that day because of the RAAM event being held in Batangas City, she still identified herself as a student.
According to Kristine, the driver asked her to pay more, saying that the amount she gave was not enough. She calmly explained that the fare was correct since she was entitled to a student discount.
However, the driver reportedly raised his voice and questioned whether she was really a student, pointing out that she was not wearing a school uniform.

Kristine tried to respond politely and asked if wearing a uniform was required to receive a student discount. After that, the driver allegedly ignored her and showed her what she described as an insulting expression.
The female student passenger clarified that she understands how difficult life can be for jeepney drivers, especially with the continuous increase in fuel prices. She said she respects the hard work they do every day to earn a living.
She also wanted to emphasize that respect and proper treatment should always be shown to passengers. She believes that misunderstandings can be explained calmly instead of raising one’s voice or making someone feel embarrassed.
The passenger also shared that student discounts should not depend only on wearing a uniform, as long as a person is truly enrolled as a student.
