Pastor Spotted Applying Ash on Motorists Passing Along Kamuning Road in Quezon City

A pastor was spotted applying ash on passing motorists along Kamuning Road in Quezon City this Ash Wednesday.

Ash Wednesday is a Christian holy day that marks the beginning of the season of Lent. Lent is a 40-day period of prayer, fasting, and reflection leading up to Easter Sunday.

Many Christians go to church to receive ashes on their forehead. The ashes are usually placed in the shape of a cross. The ashes used on this day are often made from burned palm branches that were blessed during Palm Sunday of the previous year.

Ash Wednesday is observed by Catholics, as well as many Protestant churches such as Methodist, Lutheran, and Anglican communities.

Recently, Miguel De Guzman, a netizen, shared a video and photos of the pastor placing ash on the foreheads of motorists on the road. The post quickly went viral and received various reactions online.

In the post, the pastor can be seen standing by the roadside, gently placing ash on the foreheads of motorcycle riders and other commuters who briefly stopped to receive it.

The pastor is from Kamuning First United Methodist Church. Instead of waiting for churchgoers inside the chapel, he decided to bring the Ash Wednesday tradition closer to people who might not have the time to attend regular services.

Many riders slowed down or pulled over for a short while so they could receive the ash cross before continuing their trip.

Many netizens appreciated the gesture, saying it was a thoughtful way to reach busy workers and travelers. For some, it showed how faith can meet people wherever they are, even on a busy road.
