Fishermen Brothers Safely Rescued After Going Live on Facebook While Their Boat Was Sinking

Fishermen brothers were safely rescued after going live on Facebook while their boat was sinking in the waters of Prieto Diaz, Sorsogon.

The siblings left early in the morning to fish, hoping for a normal and productive day at sea. At first, the weather seemed fine. The sea was calm, and there were no signs of danger. However, as they were heading back home later in the day, the weather suddenly changed.

Suddenly, strong winds began to blow, and large waves started crashing against their small boat.

As the situation became more serious, their boat slowly began to sink. Water kept entering as the waves continued to hit them. Realizing the danger they were in, Cherwin Bartolome quickly took out his mobile phone and went live on Facebook.

While the boat was being battered by rough waves, he asked for help through the live video.

Many netizens who saw the livestream became worried and quickly informed the authorities. It was already nighttime when rescuers arrived in the area. Despite the darkness and rough sea conditions, they were able to find the two brothers and bring them to safety.

After the rescue, the fishermen were brought to Barangay Brillante in Prieto Diaz. They were given assistance and allowed to rest after their frightening experience. The following morning, their sunken boat finally recovered from the sea.

The quick decision of fisherfolks to seek help through social media shows the help that modern technology ca give during emergencies.
