LTO Provides Job For Young Mother Working as Tricycle Driver
A young mother who once went viral on social media for driving a tricycle in Manila has now been given a job by the Land Transportation Office.
The woman first caught public attention after she appeared in a travel vlog while taking passengers on the way to Dolomite Beach in Manila. The woman who was only 17 years old at the time was seen driving a tricycle.
In the video, she was seen driving without a license while carrying her baby, who was tied to her chest as she navigated the busy streets. The scene raised serious concerns about road safety and the welfare of both the young mother and her child.
Some viewers also reacted to the fare she charged, which reportedly reached P200. Despite the comments, the vlogger still gave a large tip, which helped the video spread even more online.
The video caught the attention of authorities and sparked discussions about the challenges faced by young parents trying to earn a living.
Because of the viral video, the head of the LTO ordered that the young woman be located so she could be offered proper assistance. The goal was not to punish her, but to guide her toward safer and more stable opportunities.
Now 19 years old, the former tricycle driver has completed the required training and successfully obtained her driver’s license. In addition, the LTO provided her with a job as utility personnel within the agency.
The opportunity allows her to earn a steady income while learning more about road rules and public service.
The LTO said this step reflects their commitment to both law enforcement and compassion. By helping those in need while promoting road safety, the agency hopes to inspire positive change and show that second chances can lead to better and safer futures.
