Meghan Markle Contacts Estranged Dad After Life-Saving Surgery in the Philippines
MEGHAN MARKLE – Duchess of Sussex Meghan Markle has broken years of silence by reaching out to her father after his left leg was amputated due to a severe medical condition.
Meghan Markle has allegedly made contact with her estranged father, Thomas Markle, after he underwent an emergency leg amputation in Cebu, Philippines. This development was confirmed by the Duchess of Sussex’s representative following reports that Thomas had undergone a major medical operation overseas.
Thomas, who has been residing in Cebu with his son and Meghan’s half-brother, Thomas Jr., was taken to the hospital on December 2 after his condition suddenly deteriorated. Medical professionals in the Philippines reportedly concluded that his left leg needed to be removed immediately to save his life.

“I can confirm she has reached out to her father,” Meghan’s spokesperson told PEOPLE magazine, marking a notable shift in the long-standing distance between Meghan and her father. No additional information was provided regarding what the pair talked about or how the communication took place.
Speaking to the Daily Mail, Thomas Jr. described the frightening condition his father was in before the surgery. “His foot turned blue and then black. It happened very quickly. I took him to a local hospital and they did some scans and an ultrasound and said the leg had to be amputated,” he said. He emphasized that the family had no other option but to approve the urgent operation. “There was no option. I was told the leg had to be removed and it was a case of life or death,” he added.
Doctors also informed the family that the days immediately after the surgery would be vital for Thomas’s survival, calling the period “critical.” Thomas Jr. stated, “His left leg has been removed below the knee. They were worried about infection setting in.”
At present, Thomas remains in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) and is expected to undergo another procedure soon to address a blood clot.

Meghan and her father have been distant since her 2018 marriage to Prince Harry, a strained relationship that has been widely discussed in the media. In May of this year, Thomas moved to Cebu with Thomas Jr. in search of a more peaceful environment.
With the ongoing health crisis facing her father, Meghan’s decision to reach out may signal the beginning of a possible reconciliation between them.
