Man Faces Possible Charges for Wearing Police Uniform at Halloween Party
HALLOWEEN COSTUME – A man who wore a police uniform as a costume at a Halloween party may face charges.
Recently, Ralph Calinisan, a Facebook user, shared photos of a man who wore a police uniform as a Halloween costume. The post immediately spread like wildfire on social media and elicited comments online.
The Philippine National Police (PNP) has strongly condemned the use of a police uniform as a Halloween costume after photos of a man wearing it, modified with cut sleeves and spread it on social media.
PNP Acting Chief Lt. Gen. Jose Melencio Nartatez Jr. described the act as a direct insult to the dignity and honor of the police organization. According to the PNP, wearing or using a police uniform without being a member of the force violates Article 179 of the Revised Penal Code, which carries a corresponding penalty.
Nartatez ordered an investigation to identify and file charges against the man involved in the viral post. The police also vowed to continue protecting the sanctity of their uniforms and symbols, emphasizing the importance of maintaining public respect for the institution.
Meanwhile, a man identified as Dha Isidro took to Facebook to express his apology after the issue spread online. He explained that he had no bad intentions and only wore the uniform as part of a Halloween celebration.
Earlier, Napolcom Commissioner Rafael Vicente Calinisan also reacted to the post, saying that a show cause order would be issued to the individual to explain his actions.
The PNP reminded the public that police uniforms should never be used for entertainment or costume purposes. They represent authority, service, and sacrifice, values that must be respected at all times.
As the investigation continues, the PNP hopes this incident serves as a reminder to the public to be mindful and respectful of symbols that embody public service and discipline.
