The Mandaluyong prosecutor dismissed the complaints filed by Atong Ang.
Alleged mastermind in the missing sabungeros, Atong Ang, filed complaints against the whistleblowers, but was recently dismissed.
Atong Ang and Gretchen Barretto were tagged in the controversial missing sabungeros case, or the cockfighting enthusiasts who went missing four years ago. They were still not found, and despite months of search operations, the Taal Lake, no hints of them were discovered.
Julie “Dondon” Patidongan, the whistleblower who identified himself as “Totoy” previously, alleged that Ang is the mastermind behind and that Berretto is among the Alpha members.
They both denied the allegations, and Ang filed charges against the whistleblower following the case.
Recently, a development regarding Ang’s cases was reported. The Office of the City Prosecutor of Mandaluyong City dismissed the robbery, grave threats, grave coercion, slander, and incriminating an innocent person complaints.
Based on a resolution dated September 30, 2025, the Mandaluyong prosecutor cited that the dismissal was due to a lack of prima facie evidence with reasonable certainty of conviction.
However, the OCP stated that there must be credible and admissible evidence to establish the authorship and authenticity of the post, such as an affidavit from the person who uploaded it.
“Without this proof, the TikTok post remains an unverified, extrajudicial source that cannot be the sole basis for establishing identifiability in a criminal case,” the resolution stated. The call logs also showed that the outgoing calls to Alan Bantiles were initiated by Ang.
Ang’s financial support for Patidongan’s 2025 mayoral bid also contradicts the alleged conspiracy between Patidongan and Bantiles to rob, kidnap, and kill Ang as early as September 2023.
“If this were true, it would be difficult to reconcile how the complainant, a seasoned businessman of considerable resources and influence, would still choose to fund the very person allegedly orchestrating a criminal scheme against him devoid of any hesitation or visible precaution,” the OCP stated.
