Former PNP Chief Nicolas Torre Doubts Capacity for Vice Presidency?
NICOLAS TORRE III – The former chief of the Philippine National Police spoke on the calls for him to run for vice president.
Following his relief from the lead of the PNP, it was previously announced that former PNP chief Torre will be offered an anti-corruption position in the government. His removal from his position in the national police shocked countless Filipinos.

Prior to his appointment as PNP chief, Torre led the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group or CIDG. He was one of the Marcos administration officials who played a role in the controversial arrest and the transfer of custody of former Pres. Rodrigo Roa Duterte to the International Criminal Court (ICC) in The Hague, Netherlands.
Undeniably, Torre earned massive criticisms over his role in Duterte’s arrest. Even the children of the former President lambasted Torre in several occasions following the arrest of their father and the transfer of his custody to the ICC.

The remarks of then-Davao Mayor Baste Duterte when he claimed that he can allegedly take down then-PNP chief Nicolas Torre III in a fistfight even went a long way. The then-PNP chief set a charity boxing match in response to the “challenge” of former Pres. Duterte’s son.

Torre prepared for the said charity boxing match and pledged that he will give all his share to the victims of typhoons in the country. Duterte did not arrive at the charity boxing match and the then-PNP Chief was declared “winner by default”.
The relief of former PNP chief Nicolas Torre III was not expected by many people. Based on a recent post of News5 on social media, the former PNP Chief claimed that there are still no updates on the position that will be offered to him. He is currently on leave.
Torre also reacted to the calls for him to run for vice president. Based on the post, he joked that he might be ousted right away.

“Parang di ko kakayanin dahil pag-chief PNP nga lang, 85 days nga lang ako, tanggal agad. Baka naman pag nag-VP ako, ma-impeach kaagad ako,” the former PNP Chief said.
Amid the speculations on why he was removed from the lead of the national police, acting Davao Mayor Baste Duterte believes that former PNP Chief Nicolas Torre III was allegedly really “demoted” from the position.
