Man Killed in Quezon City Ambush After Withdrawing from ATM

A 34-year-old man was shot dead in an ambush shortly after withdrawing money from an ATM in Barangay East Kamias, Quezon City.

On early Tuesday morning (September 30, 2025), CCTV footage showed a motorcycle-riding suspect trailing the victim until he reached his home along Kasing-Kasing Street, just across the barangay hall.

When the victim arrived, the gunman attacked, shooting him before taking his jewelry, which was worth around P150,000.

Man

Hinarang nila ‘yong naka-motor, sinabihan sila na ‘Huwag kayong humarang, babarilin ko kayo,’” barangay secretary Justin Leroux Fineza said.

Barangay officials tried to respond but were threatened by the armed suspect. Witnesses said the gunman warned them not to interfere, forcing them to prioritize their safety.

The suspect quickly fled toward Kamias Road. The victim was rushed to the hospital by ambulance but was declared dead on arrival due to a gunshot wound to the chest. His sibling later confirmed he also had an injury on his hand, possibly from trying to fight back or grab the weapon.

Man

Tingin ko, lumaban o gusto niyang agawin ang baril eh. Base doon sa CCTV, umatras pa ‘yong gunman eh. Kaya noong pinuntahan ko siya sa ospital butas [ang palad], saka tumagos sa dibdib. Walang exit wound,” the sibling said.

The victim, who earned a living making guitars, was described as someone who had no known enemies. His family shared that they were still grieving the recent death of their mother just a month ago, making this tragedy even more painful.

His sibling expressed deep sorrow, saying the loss was hard to accept and appealed for justice to be served.

Police are now conducting a hot pursuit operation to capture the suspect. Investigators are also looking into possible motives aside from robbery, though initial findings point to theft as the main reason.
