Donnalyn Bartolome Turns Septimius Awards Win Into Plea for PH Flood Action

Donnalyn Bartolome Champions Flood Prevention in Europe Speech

DONNALYN BARTOLOME – With the world watching, Donnalyn Bartolome highlighted one of her homeland’s most pressing issues—flooding—while receiving the Best Content Creator Award in Europe.

Filipina content creator Donnalyn Bartolome used her moment of global recognition to spotlight one of the Philippines’ long-standing problems—flooding. She received the Best Content Creator Award at the 2025 Septimius Awards in Amsterdam, where she devoted her acceptance speech to calling attention to flood control concerns in her home country.

Bartolome later posted a portion of her speech on Instagram, pointing out that her career goes beyond making people laugh or smile. “I’m deeply honored to be awarded tonight. I create content to inspire. I love making people happy and to fund a lot of causes and prevention initiatives. I’m from the Philippines, and one of the most heartbreaking issues we face back home is the floods,” she said.

The influencer further explained the recurring devastation caused by floods, which displace families and claim lives year after year. “Every year, communities are displaced, lives are lost, and it’s a cycle we’ve been stuck in for far too long. I’ve always believed prevention is better than cure. While we hope for and continue to push for our government to do better with regard to our flood control systems, we are also taking action into our own hands by planting trees and bamboo,” Bartolome added.

Addressing the international audience, she called on people to do their part in protecting the planet. “I’m standing here in front of you, not just as an awardee, but someone who’s using this moment to influence. If you take anything from this, let it be this: please plant at least one tree in your lifetime. It’s a simple act of love for the one home we all share, our planet. So far, we’ve planted over a thousand trees, and each tree only costs one dollar, and tonight, a self-made agency pledged for one hundred more trees,” she said, which drew applause from the crowd.

Her speech coincided with rising public concern over reports of corruption tied to flood control projects involving government officials. Through her message, Bartolome highlighted the power of community-driven efforts while urging authorities to take greater responsibility.

Bartolome initially gained popularity as a vlogger before branching into music, releasing tracks such as “Kakaibabe” and “Happy Break Up.” She is also in a relationship with actor JM De Guzman.

The Septimius Awards, staged annually in Europe, recognize outstanding achievements in film, television, animation, and screenwriting, and regularly host acclaimed talents including Emmy, BAFTA, and Oscar winners.
