Finally, on his social media page, the senator explained the photos and denied doing what he was accused of. According to him, he did not extend his middle finger while singing the national anthem during Monday’s Senate plenary session.
“Hindi ko po malaman bakit sila gumawa ng ganito,” the actor-politician quipped in a live statement.
He then went on explaining that it was his index finger that was extended, and that such a gesture is sacred for Muslims. It means that there are no other gods to be worshipped but Allah.
“Hindi po namin puwedeng gawin na gawing kabastusan po ito. Magpapakamatay na lang po ako kung gagawin ko ‘yun. Hinihingi ko po na huwag sana natin itong gawing kalokohan dahil ito po ang pundasyon ng lahat ng pananampalataya ng Muslim,” Padilla added.
