VP Sara Duterte Sends Strong Words of Sympathy & Praise to Fallen Congressman Barzaga

SARA DUTERTE – A heartfelt open letter from VP Sara Duterte to Kiko Barzaga has sparked attention on social media.

Vice President Sara Duterte expressed her sympathy and support for former Cavite 4th District Representative Kiko Barzaga following his expulsion from the House of Representatives.

In an open letter posted on her social media account, the Vice President conveyed a heartfelt message to Barzaga, emphasizing the importance of staying true to oneself despite criticism and opposition. She opened her message with a warm greeting, saying, “MAHAL ka ng Diyos, mga Caviteño, mga Dabawenyo, mga agila at ng mga pusa!”

The letter, published on her Facebook page, revealed Duterte’s willingness to publicly show her support and affection for the controversial former congressman during a difficult period in his political career.

“Being different is okay.

It takes grit to be yourself in a world that rewards conformity. Not everyone will understand your choices or the path you take, and that’s okay.

“What matters is staying true to who you are and what you believe in,” VP Sara’s opening message to Barzaga.

The Vice President went on to relate Barzaga’s situation to her own experiences in public life.

“Ako man ay itinuturing na kakaiba. llang beses na akong tinawag na baliw, bobo, at kung anu-ano pa dahil lamang sa pagtangging sumunod sa nakasanayan.

“You are different because you have never been convicted of child abuse, never brought home ‘maletas’ of public funds, never allowed cocaine and alcohol to flow from your office, and never said yes to corruption and oppression.

“Walking alone is okay, too. It takes courage to charge forward even if no one will follow you.

“Your resolve is a daily reminder that character matters more than conformity. The strength you show inspires more Filipinos than you may ever know,” VP Sara added.

Aside from her words of encouragement, Duterte also reminded Barzaga to drink plenty of water and continue taking Vitamin C to help him recover from his illness.

Barzaga was removed from Congress after a vote of 265 in favor, 14 against, and 8 abstentions. The House approved the recommendation of the Committee on Ethics and Privileges to expel him from his position due to alleged repeated violations of the standards of conduct expected from a member of the House of Representatives.
