Jeepney Driver Arrested for Allegedly Harassing Female Student in Cebu
A jeepney driver in Cebu City was arrested for allegedly groping a female student passenger on her way home.
On Monday night (September 1, 2025), a 20-year-old college student and her family are seeking justice after she was allegedly harassed by a jeepney driver while on her way home.
Authorities identified the driver as 42-year-old Lucas Parame Pantilgan Jr., a resident of Barangay Cantabaco, Toledo City. He is now under police custody and facing a complaint for acts of lasciviousness.
Investigators said the incident happened around 8:20 p.m. while the student was riding a jeepney from downtown Cebu City. She was seated in the front beside the driver when his hand allegedly brushed against her private part as he shifted gears.
The female student quickly got off the jeepney at the Ayala terminal and called her family for help. Her father immediately went to seek assistance at the Tintay terminal, where concerned citizens and personnel helped locate the suspect.
Pantilgan was held at the terminal until police from the Talamban Station arrived. The driver reportedly went with the authorities without resistance and was later transferred to Mabolo Police Station, which has jurisdiction over the area where the incident took place.
Police investigators said the driver expressed regret and asked for forgiveness, but the victim’s family chose to pursue legal action to hold him accountable.
Talamban Police Station turned over the case to Mabolo Police Station for further investigation. Authorities reminded the public, especially students and women, to be vigilant when commuting and to report any incidents of harassment immediately.
