Senator Bong Go gives an update.
Following the chaos inside the Senate, Senator Bong Go gives an update as DILG Sec. Jonvic Remulla entered the establishment.
On Wednesday, gunshots were allegedly heard at the Senate amid escalating tensions following developments related to the arrest of Senator Ronald “Bato” dela Rosa. Several media outlets reported the alleged gunfire as authorities, members of the media, and supporters gathered around the Senate premises.

The Office of the Sergeant at Arms earlier said they were going to arrest someone but did not give details. On the other hand, the National Bureau of Investigation denied that its agents were responsible for the gunshots reportedly heard at the Senate on Wednesday evening, adding that it had not issued any order to arrest Senator Ronald “Bato” dela Rosa.
“Walang baril ang mga tao ko. Hindi kami pumunta doon [to arrest],” NBI Director Melvin Matibag said.
Shortly after the reports erupted online, Interior Secretary Jonvic Remulla went to the Senate and met with several senators. Senator Bong Go gave an update, saying Remulla went there to immediately investigate what really happened.
He urged the public to stay calm, not to be too alarmed, and just patiently wait for the eventual truth to come out.
Senate President Alan Peter Cayetano, along with Sens. Pia Cayetano, Joel Villanueva, Rodante Marcoleta, and Mark Villar, could be seen in the background of Go’s livestream as Remulla spoke with lawmakers.
Meanwhile, it remains unclear where Senator Ronald “Bato” dela Rosa is at the moment, as inquiries and reports from inside the building continue to focus on the source of the gunshots and who may have fired them.
However, Senate President Alan Peter Cayetano assured that they will not leave him despite the ongoing chaos inside the Senate.
