Sen. Imee Marcos Admits Nervousness in Taking Drug Testing
IMEE MARCOS – The Senator confirmed undergoing a drug testing amid the recent issue in the Senate involving a staff member of the office of Sen. Robin Padilla.
Actress Nadia Montenegro was recently the center of controversy after she was accused of using joint inside the Senate restroom. The actress is one of the staff members of the office of Sen. Robin Padilla.

Montenegro denied using ‘Maryjane’. According to her, it was probably the scent of her vape that the staff member of the Office-of-Sergeant-At-Arms (OSAA) noticed. Reportedly, the foul and suspicious odor was noticed inside the Senate vicinity twice but the first time around, no one was there.
In the recent incident this August, it was only actress Nadia Montenegro who was in the area when a staff of OSAA noticed the same foul odor. The actress was asked to take a leave immediately. Amid the issues, she resigned.

Senate Minority Leader Tito Sotto proposed for a mandatory drug testing among all Senate officials and employees amid the issue involving the chamber. According to him, it will uphold the moral of the Senate.

Sotto penned a letter to Senate Pres. Chiz Escudero which the Senate Chief confirmed he has received. The Senate Minority Leader also said that a mandatory drug testing will ensure a “drug-free workplace”.
Although there was no order yet for a mandatory drug testing, several senators and their staff already went through drug testing. Recently, presidential sister and Sen. Imee Marcos confirmed going through a drug test.

Based on a post on her social media page, not only Sen. Imee Marcos but as well as her staff went through the drug testing. She stressed that her staff even went ahead of her. However, she admitted that she feels quite nervous.
“Kaya sabi ko kailangan ako rin para good example. Oh, ayun kaya lang kinakabahan ako baka ano matuklasan, ay diabetes sa katakawan ko ng tsokolate, mangga, at mga kakanin,” the Senator expressed.

Sen. Imee Marcos said they grabbed the chance to undergo drug testing for free when the incident in the Senate sparked. According to her, when she was the governor of Ilocos Norte, she also mandated the officials and employees to undergo drug testing.
“Nasa sa kanila pero diba noong nagkaroon ng insidente dito sa Senado na may nagda-drugs daw, ang sabi may free drug test kaya sinamantala na namin. Noong governor ako sa Ilocos Norte, talagang inu-obliga rin namin ang lahat. Sabi nila bawal daw mandatory pero ganun pa man, nadadaan naman sa pakiusap,” the presidential Sister said.
The result of the drug testing of Sen. Imee Marcos is expected next week. Amid the issues, Sen. Robin Padilla called for a mandatory drug testing among all government officials including the president. However, Malacañang claimed that Sen. Robin Padilla’s mandatory drug testing proposal is against the law.
