Group of Students in Batangas Earns Praises for Giving Free Water & Biscuits for Jeepney Drivers
A group of students in Batangas earned admiration online after they distributed free water and biscuits to jeepney drivers.
Recently, Jhenrie Dianne, a Facebook user, shared photos of their activity of giving out free water and biscuits to jeepney drivers. The post quickly went viral on social media and received praise online.
The students, who are taking up Bachelor of Science in Public Health at Batangas State University, came together to organize the small project. They collected money from their own allowances and also received support through a donation drive online.
With what they gathered, they were able to prepare around 70 bottles of water and 70 packs of biscuits.
For many jeepney drivers, every day on the road has become more difficult. High fuel prices and low income have made it harder to provide for their families. Some even struggle to buy their own meals or end up spending more than what they earn just to keep working.
The students shared that they were moved after seeing posts about the situation of drivers. They realized that behind every jeepney is someone’s father or family member trying to make a living. This thought pushed them to take action, even in a small way.
Through their project, they hoped to ease the burden of drivers, even just for a short moment. What seemed like a simple gesture turned out to bring smiles and relief to those who received it.
The group also expressed their gratitude to everyone who supported their initiative. They shared that this would not be their last effort, as they hope to continue helping in their own little ways.

“After ko mabasa lahat ng mga post tungkol sa mga Jeepney Driver na nahihirapan dahil sa patuloy na pag taas ng gasolina at sa kabila nito ang samo’t saring aberya gaya nalang ng “pananakit ng dispatcher” , “hindi makabili ng pag kain dahil sa sapat na kita o minsa’y kulang pa” , “pagiging abunado pa sa gasolina dahil hindi naabot ang kota para sa kita” ito ang umantig ng aking damdamin dahil ang nasa isip ko sa nakikita ko ay ” That’s someone’s father” at bilang anak ito ang ayaw ko maranasan ng kahit sino lalo na ang aking ama.
