Ivana Alawi Vlog With Quentin Earns Negative Comments

Some people online criticized how Ivana Alawi spoiled celebrity children with autism.

Actress-vlogger Ivana Alawi has been doing vlogs with celebrity children who have autism, and some people online found fault in her videos.

Quentin, the son of actress-comedienne Candy Pangilinan, recently appeared in Ivana Alawi’s vlog, where the concept was not saying “no” to anything he wanted. This came after Ivana released a similar video featuring Katie, the daughter of Katrina Halili.

While many were touched and glad to watch such a fun challenge format that showed generosity, spontaneity, and a lighthearted moment with Quentin, some people from another social media platform aired their thoughts about the video and pointed out the faults they found.

A Threads user wrote in a post how awkward it turned out to be when Ivana kept on insisting on buying Quentin an iPhone. The user stressed that she should stop making content featuring celebrities with children on the autism spectrum, as it felt forced after observing that their moms did not want their children to be spoiled.

In the vlog with Quentin, Ivana really pushed to buy him a phone, even though Pangilinan mentioned it might not be a good idea since he tends to throw things when he has tantrums. Still, Ivana went for it and even dropped the iPhone on purpose to show it was tough.

Some people commented and agreed with the post. One user who claimed to be a SPED teacher expressed that the more these children are spoiled, the worse their behavior gets. One commenter suggested that she could have promoted autism awareness through other ways, such as showing Q’s daily life, his OJT, or the therapies he goes through to give her viewers a better understanding of a life with special children.

Another commenter wrote: “As an ausome mom, I totally get it. Not all meltdowns need gadgets as solutions. Sometimes, saying no is part of teaching boundaries. Kids especially those on the spectrum thrive with structure, not overindulgence. It’s not about being strict, it’s about being intentional.”
