Here’s what Maris Racal shared with those who support “Sunshine.”
The movie “Sunshine” starring Maris Racal has received so much support, and here’s what the actress expressed about this.
“Sunshine” is a film helmed by Antoinette Jadaone, produced by ANIMA Studios and Project 8 Projects. The film earned the Narrative Feature Jury Award and the Narrative Feature Audience Award at AAAFF. It also won the Crystal Bear for Best Film at the 75th Berlin International Film Festival.
The story follows the life of a young gymnast who got pregnant during the week of the national team tryouts. The movie talked about sensitive topics, including abortion. This is a topic that the country is still conservative in talking about.
Sunshine was left in a position whether to hold on to her dream or choose to become a mother. The movie is not about being pro or anti abortion, it is about the real-life Sunshines out there.
In the past weeks, the country was battered by a series of cyclones and a southwest monsoon. However, despite this, Sunshine continues to go strong. It is now showing in more cinemas in its second week.
Through a social media post, Maris became emotional as she talked about the love and support her film has received despite the challenges last week. She thanked the people for their support and highlighted the significant message that her movie would deliver to the viewers.
“Ilan taon namin ‘tong ginawa and thank you sa lahat ng mga sumuporta,” she quipped. To recall, she once mentioned that she really learned gymnastics for a year to give justice to her role.
Jadaone said that there’s pressure in going against major international releases, but because of the word of mouth, their movie found its audience and gained momentum.
