Police Arrest Security Guard in Marikina for Punching TNVS Driver in Traffic Altercation

A 45-year-old security guard in Marikina City was arrested after punching a TNVS driver in a road rage incident.

Last week, a security guard was arrested after getting involved in a road rage incident in Barangay Concepcion Uno, Marikina City.

According to the Marikina City Police, the trouble began around 4:00 PM when the security guard, who was riding a motorcycle, encountered a 30-year-old TNVS driver in Barangay Nangka.

The guard reportedly tried to overtake the car but got into a heated argument with the driver when they both ended up at a nearby gasoline station in Barangay Concepcion Uno.

Witnesses said the guard honked at the driver and cursed at him through the window. The car stopped at the gas station, possibly to settle things peacefully, but instead of talking it out, the guard suddenly punched the driver, kicked the vehicle, and threatened him. He was even seen reaching into his sling bag, as if to pull something out.

A concerned citizen saw what was happening and called 911. Within just three minutes, police officers arrived and arrested the suspect. During the arrest, they recovered a firearm and several bullets from the guard. Officers also noted that he smelled of alcohol.

The guard admitted that he lost his temper because he wasn’t allowed to merge into the lane. He said he was rushing to work and frustrated by the heavy rain. He claimed the TNVS driver blocked him on purpose and even took his motorcycle keys during the argument.

Although he denied being drunk, the guard is now detained at the Marikina Police Custodial Facility. He is facing several charges, including physical injury, threat, malicious mischief, and violation of the Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act.
