Elderly Woman in Coma After Receiving P580 From Tricycle Driver Who Hit Her
An elderly woman is now in coma following a hit-and-run accident in Palawan, the driver gave her only P580 before leaving.
A hit-and-run is a type of accident where a driver hits a person, another vehicle, or property and then leaves the scene without stopping to help or take responsibility.
For example, if a driver hits someone crossing the street and drives away without checking on the person or reporting the incident, that’s considered a hit-and-run. It is illegal and often leads to serious consequences.

Recently, a family in Palawan is grieving after Perla Catalino was left in critical condition following a hit-and-run accident involving a speeding tricycle. The incident happened around 4:00 p.m. on July 3, 2025, along San Juan Road in Barangay San Miguel, right in front of the Ospital ng Palawan.
Nanay Perla was at the hospital taking care of her sick child. She had only stepped out briefly to buy food when she was suddenly hit by a fast-moving tricycle while crossing the road. The impact caused her to hit her head hard, resulting in internal bleeding in her brain.
Despite her serious condition, the tricycle driver only handed her P580 before quickly leaving the scene.

Nanay Perla still managed to buy food and return to her child’s hospital room despite being injured. It was there that she collapsed and lost consciousness. She has been in a coma since then.
The family was originally preparing for the release of her hospitalized child on Friday (July 4, 2025), but now they are dealing with a much heavier burden after Nanay Perla has taken her child’s place as a patient in the hospital bed.
The Catalino family is asking for help from the public in identifying the driver responsible for the accident. Anyone who has information is encouraged to contact them at 0938 633 1563.
