Several Students in Mindanao Uses Floaters & Horses to Cross Rivers to Reach School and Attend Classes

Several students in Mindanao were crossing rivers on floaters and horses just to reach school and attend classes.

A concerned netizen shared a video of several students are seen crossing the Davao River using floaters just to attend school in Davao City. The children were sitting on inflated rubber rings while someone pushes them across the river.

The heartbreaking scene has caught the attention of many after it was reported on national television.

According to the mother of some students, they have no choice but to cross the river this way because there is no bridge in their area. Even during good weather, this is their daily situation. She hopes that the local government will take action and provide a safer route for the children.

In another part of Mindanao, students in South Upi, Maguindanao del Sur also face a similar problem. Their bamboo bridge was destroyed by heavy rains. Now, the only way to get to school is if someone passes by on a horse and allows them to ride.

Without it, many are forced to skip school or walk through dangerous paths.

Meanwhile, in Zamboanga del Sur, a video taken by a resident shows students wading through a muddy river with strong currents. They carefully hold their school bags high above their heads to keep them dry as they make their way to class.

As of this writing, local government units from these areas have yet to respond to the growing concerns of the residents who are hoping for safer and more reliable ways for their children to reach school.
