Sen. Imee Marcos Confirms Sen. Robin Padilla Initiated Move for Dismissal of Duterte’s Impeachment Case
ROBIN PADILLA – The Senator has filed a resolution seeking to dismiss the impeachment case against Vice President Sara Duterte as per presidential sister and reelected Senator Imee Marcos.
The changing of the schedule for the impeachment process against Vice Pres. Sara Duterte did not sit well with a lot of people. Several groups launched protests outside the Senate building calling for the immediate start of the trial against Duterte. The civil society groups are set to conduct a 3-day protest.

Senate Pres. Chiz Escudero previously announced that the impeachment process will be postponed to give way for their legislative agenda. According to the Senate Chief, they still have several key measures that have to be passed before the end of the 19th Congress.
Escudero also claimed that the Commission on Appointments still have several presidential appointments to review. Presidential sister and Sen. Imee Marcos asked why the Senate keeps on postponing the impeachment process. She claimed that the impeachment move has allegedly lost.

Several universities and colleges as well as religious groups joined the call on the Senate to start the impeachment process against Duterte. However, on the other side, Duterte allies have also expressed their intention to move for the dismissal of the impeachment case against the Vice President.

Recently, based on a post on Inquirer, Sen. Imee Marcos confirmed that Sen. Robin Padilla has filed a resolution seeking to dismiss the impeachment case against Vice Pres. Sara Duterte. The actor-turned-Senator previously admitted that he drafted his own resolution with him as the only author of the said resolution.

Despite being the sole author, based on a report from the same source, Sen. Robin Padilla hopes that he will get the support of his colleagues especially from the so-called Duterte bloc. Based on the report, then, he was still unsure if his resolution would be included in the draft resolution of another known Duterte ally, Sen. Ronald “Bato” dela Rosa.
