Reelected Sen. Imee Marcos Meets Duterte’s Lawyer Nicholas Kaufman in The Hague
IMEE MARCOS – The presidential sister met with former President Rodrigo Roa Duterte’s lawyer in The Hague, Netherlands.
Currently, former Pres. Rodrigo Roa Duterte is detained in The Hague under the custody of the International Criminal Court. Vice Pres. Sara Duterte previously stayed in The Netherlands for more than three (3) weeks to finalize her father’s ICC legal team.
Duterte’s lawyers who insist that the ICC does not have jurisdiction over the Philippines including British-Israeli lawyer Nicholas Kaufman, the former Philippine President’s lead counsel, and French lawyer Dov Jacobs. Kaufman Vice Pres. Sara Duterte previously said that all legal matters are discussed between Duterte and his lawyers while they only talked about their family and life during her past visits.
Vice Pres. Sara Duterte is now back in The Hague. Presidential sister and Sen. Imee Marcos who is also a friend of the Vice President is also in The Hague. She recently met with Duterte’s lead counsel, Atty. Nicholas Kaufman.
Sen. Marcos shared a photo of her and Atty. Kaufman on social media. In the caption of her post, the presidential sister stressed that she really finds Duterte’s arrest unacceptable as she knows the feeling of being away from one’s country.
Sen. Imee Marcos stressed that she is in The Hague not to be dramatic but to find a solution and make an action. According to her, there is a Marcos who learned from the history of the Philippines.
“Ngunit narito tayo hindi upang magdrama, kundi para sa solusyon, narito tayo upang umaksyon. Hindi ako naghintay ng 39 years para lang magkamali muli, may Marcos na natuto sa kasaysayan. Narito ako hindi para sa isang tao, kundi para sa sambayanang Pilipino. Thank you Atty. Nicholas Kaufman. Together, we will bring PRRD home,” the reelected Senator stated.
Vice Pres. Sara Duterte endorsed the senatorial reelection bid of Sen. Imee Marcos in the 2025 Midterm Elections. Vice Pres. Duterte previously said that Senator Imee is different from her brother, Pres. BBM.
