Netizens reacted to this post that Edu Manzano shared
Veteran-actor host Edu Manzano is now being bashed on social media because of Congressman Kiko Barzaga.
Edu is one of the celebrities who engaged in political and social issues. He uses his social media platforms to criticize political figures and share his views on politicians, such as those who were allegedly involved in the anomalous flood control projects.
Previously, he criticized Congressman Martin Romualdez, and former congressman Zaldy Co who were linked to the issue. Many netizens admired the veteran actor-host for using his platform to speak for the country and the Filipino people.
However, in one of his recent Instragram posts, Edu Manzano received bashing, and it was because his interview with Cong. Kiko Barzaga.
Edu posted a podcast interview he did with Barzaga on his Instagram, which obviously wasn’t well received by many netizens.
“Just finished our very interesting podcast interview w/ Ex. Cong. Kiko Barzaga. Steady, insightful, inspirational and principled. Maraming salamat Kiko. BTW. Maraming salamat din from the staff and crew for your patience and kindness,” he wrote in the caption of his post.
Barzaga is a known supporter of Vice President Sarah Duterte, and he had some controversial statements againt President Bongbong Marcos. Because of his behavior on social media, his fellow lawmakers decided to take action. Just recently, he was expelled from the House of Representatives because of his “disorderly behavior.”
Many netizens criticized Edu for giving Barzaga a platform. Some were shocked and expressed disappointement because of Edu’s post. “Nalungkot ako bigla. I know mr. Edu, mabait iyan. I don’t know his reasons, could financial or his present partner have anything to do with it,” a netizen commented.
For some, this goes to show Edu’s real political color. On the other hand, there were netizens who defended the veteran actor-host. “Mag dds na tayo lahat para lahat tayo maging masaya na at wala ng gulo para gumanda na ang buong Pilipinas,” a supporter commented.
Some also said that they would just unfollow Edu Manzano because of his conversation on the podcast with Kiko.
