PAGASA Says 27 Areas to Experience Dangerous Heat Indices

PAGASA LATEST UPDATE – The state weather bureau reported that 27 areas in the country may reach a dangerous heat index.  

On Monday (May 19, 2025), the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration released the latest weather update in the country. Dangerous heat indices of 45°C are expected in several areas.  

Dagupan City in Pangasinan and Aparri in Cagayan may experience a dangerous heat index of 45°C. 42ºC to 44ºC heat indices are expected in 25 other areas.

Heat index under the “danger” category may cause heat cramps and heat exhaustion. Prolonged sun exposure may lead to heatstroke.

PAGASA weather specialist Daniel James Villamil reported that an Intertropical Convergence Zone will bring scattered rains over Mindanao, Negros Oriental, Siquijor, and Palawan.

“In our satellite image, we can see the long series of clouds that continue to exist in parts of Mindanao and Palawan and the continued existence of the ITCZ,” Villamil said.  

The easterlies will bring cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms over Eastern Samar, Leyte, and Southern Leyte.  

It will also bring partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms over Metro Manila and the rest of the country.  

Meanwhile, the coastal water condition across the country will be slight to moderate, according to PAGASA
