Woman Shares Unsettling Experience at Airport During Bag Check
A woman shared her unsettling experience during bag check at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA).
Recently, ANn Olvido Lucero, a Facebook user, shared her nerve-wracking experience at NAIA, where she went through a “random check” that left her anxious and shaken. The post elicited comments from the internet users.
It all happened on April 6, 2025, as she was preparing for a domestic flight. After checking in around 1:30 p.m., she passed through the usual X-ray screening with her hand-carry items, which included a tumbler, a bag, and a tote filled with fruits.

Before the scan, Lucero was told to empty her tumbler, which she did without hesitation. Right after the scan, an airport staff member informed her that her items were selected for random checking.
Confused and slightly alarmed, she asked why, but the only response she got was that it was a routine procedure. The staff insisted on bringing her belongings to another area without her, which made her feel uneasy.
Wanting to stay in control, she asked to carry her own things but was not allowed.

In the examiner’s area, her palms, clothes, shoes, and bags were wiped with a special paper, which was then placed in a machine. She kept asking what the process was for random checking. There were no signs or proper explanations about what was happening.
Even after the process was done and she was cleared, the anxiety lingered. Thoughts of past airport controversies and worst-case scenarios ran through her head, making her feel helpless.
The lady passenger shared her story online not to criticize airport staff but to raise awareness. For passengers to feel safe, it’s important that proper communication and transparency are always part of any security check.
