Vilma also ventured into public service. She served as mayor, congressman, and is now returning to be an aspirant governor in Batangas. For quite a while, the veteran actress took a break from politics. This year, she returned to the political arena with her sons, Kapamilya host Luis Manzano, who is running for vice governor, and Ryan Recto, who is running for congressman.

Previously, Vilma Santos and her sons addressed the political dynasty issue. She pointed out that people still have the right to choose who they want to be in the position. The actress also said that with Luis as her running mate, she is sure that public service will be intensified in their province.

In a recent Showbiz Update, the YouTube showbiz talk show of talent manager-vlogger Ogie Diaz, he shared a video posted on Bente Noebe Facebook page.

It showed that Jay Ilagan, who is also running for Batangas governor, said something about Ate Vi. In the video, the aspiring governor said that if his opponent were Kathryn Bernardo or Andrea Brillantes, he would definitely get nervous.

However, since they are not his opponents, he is confident. “Pero ang aking kalabaan ay isang Vilma Santos lang na laos na,” Ilagan said, adding that he is not afraid. He also said that many of Vilma’s fans have already passed away.

Ilagan stressed that it is good to have a governor who can be reached, gets invited to, and can be visited at home for various needs. “Ako ang governor na 24 hours ang serbisyo,” he said.

When Ogie asked his co-host Dyosa Pockoh, who is from Batangas, regarding this video, he said that, according to people who are close to the aspiring governor that this video was spliced.

However, Ogie pointed out that even though this was just a clip and not the whole speech, it can still be heard that Ilagan said negative things about Vilma.
