Former President Rodrigo Duterte is currently detained in The Hague, and while people are exerting efforts to get him out of detention, Senator Bato Dela Rosa is seemingly busy finding ways to evade the possible arrest from the international tribunal.

On Tuesday, the senator expressed that he had to be flexible in order to avoid a possible arrest warrant from the ICC. This, while he maintains that President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. changed his stance regarding the issue.

“Dapat flexible ka, huwag kang magpa-fix diyan dahil panahon ng kagipitan ngayon. Marunong dumiskarte dapat,” he told the reporters over the phone. According to him, his change of mind should not be questioned, as this was his strategy, especially in this time of persecution.

He even quipped “Huwag patanga-tanga” when asked how to avoid the arrest should the ICC issue the warrant.

To recall, he was Duterte’s Philippine National Police (PNP) chief during his time as the president and during the time of his war on drugs that reportedly claimed a lot of innocent lives.

About the disguise, he added that he tried once to wear a cap, put on a jacket, and cover his face with a mask, but, accordingly, there were people who still recognized him.

“Tinry ko na mag-cap ako, nag-jacket ako, mask-mask ako. Nakita ako ng isang tao sa Bicol. Sabi sa akin ng tao na nagbebenta ng kamote, ‘Kilala kita! Si Bato ka!’ Wala na, patay na,” Dela Rosa said.
