Andi Eigenmann Gushes About Jaclyn Jose’s Inclusion In Oscars In Memoriam

Jaclyn Jose honored in Oscars’ ‘In Memoriam’ segment and Andi Eigenmann has this to say about it.

Filipino actress Jaclyn Jose was among those honored in the Oscars’ “In Memoriam” segment, and Andi Eigenmann speaks about this.

The late veteran actress Jaclyn Jose was among the In Memoriam tributes at the 97th Academy Awards yesterday. The other film legends Gene Hackman, James Earl Jones, Maggie Smith, Gena Rowlands, and Donald Sutherland were also honored in the said segment at the 97th Academy Awards Sunday night in Los Angeles.

“The Academy honors friends and colleagues we lost over the last year. Take a moment to remember the artists and filmmakers we lost in 2024-2025,” the Oscars wrote on its website.

To recall, the late veteran Filipino actress was the first Southeast Asian to win Best Actress at the Cannes Film Festival. Jaclyn succumbed to a heart attack in her home in Quezon City last year, and her death has brought the entire industry to deep grief. She was 60 years old, and her legacy lives on forever through her works.

On Instagram, Jaclyn’s daughter Andi Eigenmann posted a screenshot of the Oscars’ tribute for Jaclyn and proudly talked about her inclusion. She wrote, “My nanay is among other Hollywood artists and filmmakers who are remembered by The Academy this year.”

Jaclyn, in the Philippines, was one of the most-awarded and highly-regarded actresses in Philippine cinema. As a multi-awarded actress, she has received recognitions from several prestigious award-giving bodies, such as Gawad Urian, Luna Awards, and FAMAS.

She won the Cannes Best Actress award in 2016 for her performance in Brillante Mendoza’s Ma’ Rosa. In this film, she played the role of a mother who was caught in the drug trade. She made history as the first Filipino and Southeast Asian to achieve the award.

Before passing away, the last project she was able to do was FPJ’s Batang Quiapo in 2023.
