Vatican Releases Update about Pope Francis amid Hospital Confinement
POPE FRANCIS – The head of the Roman Catholic church suffered breathing crisis and an episode of vomiting as per the Holy See Press Office.
Currently, Roman Catholic church leaders and members are monitoring updates about the status of the Pope. He is admitted in Gemelli hospital in Rome, Italy for 15 days now since February 14.

Pope Francis suffered pneumonia which stemmed from bronchitis. He had breathing difficulties and chest pain, thus, he was hospitalized. However, the condition of the Pope give the doctors a complex picture for over two (2) weeks now.
The Pope previously told two (2) people close to him that he might “not make it this time”. Amid his belief of a nearing death for him, Vatican started the wake and funeral preparations in case of the Pope’s death.
On the 7th day of his hospital confinement, the clinical condition of Pope Francis showed slight improvement. However, then, the doctors stressed that the Roman Pontiff is not out of danger although he’s out of the risk of dying at that time.
However, shortly after slight improvements were noted as his fever was gone and his heart rate and blood pressure level remained stable, the Pope had a respiratory attack. It required the transfusion of two (2) counts of blood and the attack left him in a critical state.
Meanwhile, for a few days since the attack, continuous slight improvement on the clinical condition of the Pope were noted. However, recently, the Roman Pontiff had a breathing ‘crisis’.
Vatican News posted the statement of the Holy See Press Office announcing that Pope Francis “experienced an isolated episode of bronchospasm”. Based on the update, it led to an episode of vomiting and an immediate worsening of the Pope’s respiratory condition.
“The Holy Father was promptly subjected to bronchial aspiration (to clear his airways) and was put on non-invasive mechanical ventilation, which improved his oxygen levels,” the Holy Press See Office said.
Based on the post, the Pope spent yesterday morning alternating between physiotherapy and praying in the chapel before he experienced the breathing crisis in the afternoon. Meanwhile, following the clearing of his airways, the Roman Pontiff remains alert and aware.
The Pope’s prognosis remain “guarded”. Following the bronchospasm, it will take between 24 to 48 hours to assess the clinical condition of the Sovereign Pontiff. More updates may be posted soon.
According to two (2) officials of Vatican, Pope Francis had a conflict with some cardinals three (3) days before he was hospitalized.
