2024 FILIPINO MOVIES – These are the local films that performed well when it comes to domestic and international grosses.
Movies are not just merely for entertainment. Most of them mirror our life values, dreams, struggles, inspirations, and among others. During the pandemic, the movie industry in the Philippines had trouble because of the lockdown.
With all the streaming apps available at present, it’s been hard to attract moviegoers again to watch films in cinemas. There were those who failed but there were also those who made it successfully.
For 2024, some films were successful as reflected on the figures of their earnings and these films are:
- Hello, Love, Again – This was shown on November 13, 2024, and was successful both in local and international gross. In the movie industry, this film is currently the highest-grossing Filipino film of all time with over Php 1 billion in terms of overall earnings. Kathryn Bernardo and Alden Richards are the leads of this movie, the sequel to their Hello, Love, Goodbye.
- Un/Happy For You – This is the comeback film of Joshua Garcia and Julia Barretto whose love team was disbanded when they broke up as a couple in real life. According to the previous article, its earnings as of September 2024 reached Php 390 million worldwide. The film was shown in other countries such as Australia, New Zealand, the United States, UAE, KSA, Canada, Guam, Saipan, Oman, Qatar, Bahrain, and others.
- And The Breadwinner Is – This film marked the comeback of Vice Ganda to the Metro Manila Film Festival. This movie topped this year’s film festival and also marked a new era for the comedian when it comes to acting. From doing comedy, he transitioned to doing drama which earned lots of praise.
