PAGASA Says Tropical Depression Romina to Affect PH Weather Condition

PAGASA LATEST UPDATE – The state weather bureau reported that Tropical Depression Romina will bring heavy rains over parts of the country.

On Monday (December 23, 2024), the Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical Atmospheric Services Administration released the latest weather update for the country. Tropical Depression Romina will continue to affect the country’s weather.

PAGASA reported that Tropical Depression Romina is moving northwestward slowly away. It will no longer affect the Kalayaan Islands in Palawan.

PAGASA

Romina was last spotted at 165 km west of Pag-asa Island, Kalayaan outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility. It has maximum sustained winds of 55 kilometers per hour and gustiness of up to 70 kph.

Because we have a [tropical cyclone wind] signal at Kalayaan Islands, we need to show a bulletin. So far, we don’t issue a bulletin if a storm does not have a local name,” weather forecaster Lorie de la Cruz said.

Romina’s trough will bring cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms over Palawan.

PAGASA

The shear line will bring cloudy skies with scattered rains and isolated thunderstorms over Southern Luzon, Visayas, Bicol Region, Calabarzon, and the rest of Mimaropa.

The northeast monsoon will bring cloudy skies with rains over Metro Manila, Cagayan Valley, Cordillera Administrative Region, Aurora, Bulacan, and Nueva Ecija.

Amihan will also bring partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated light rains over the rest of Luzon.

The localized thunderstorms will bring partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms over Mindanao.

The weather agency has advised the residents in the affected areas to take precautionary measures for possible flash floods or landslides due to moderate to at times heavy rains and severe thunderstorms.

Meanwhile, the coastal water condition over the Northern Luzon and the eastern sections of Central and Southern Luzon will be rough to very rough. Moderate to rough coastal waters are expected over Visayas, the rest of Luzon, and the northeastern section of Mindanao.

Slight to moderate surrounding sea conditions are expected over the rest of Mindanao, according to PAGASA.
