Speculations surrounding the death of Mercy Sunot circulated online

Aegis band vocalist Juliet Sunot debunked the fake news about the death of her sister and fellow vocalist Mercy Sunot.

Mercy died on Monday, November 18 after battling breast and lung cancer. Her untimely death saddened the OPM industry and their fans who have been there with them for many years.

Messages of sympathy and condolences poured on social media for the loved ones that Mercy left behind. However, unfortunately, there were irresponsible netizens who had been spreading fake news about the deceased.

In a a recent Facebook post, Juliet Sunot asked the public not to believe or stop spreading fake news about her sister Mercy Sunot.

Juliet stressed that she has not allowed any media entity to interview her and there was no truth that her sister had vices which allegedly became the cause of her death. “Allow me to reiterate, I Juliet Sonot of Aegis, had never communicated with anyone for interviews & had never made statements that Mercy was into any vices. Please, please stop spreading malicious accusations against my sister,” she said.

Juliet also thanked everyone who have been sending messages of love and support for them amid the difficult time in their lives.

The official Facebook page of Aegis also released a statement regarding the fake news about Mercy.

The band requested the public to respect Mercy and her family. They reiterated that the deceased had no vices, she was not smoking nor drinking alcoholic drinks. Aegis also stressed that Juliet Sunot did not have an interview in which she was saying negative things about her sister. The group asked the public to be responsible for sharing information online.

Meanwhile, based on the article in PEP, a source close to Mercy Sunot shared that her family is still processing the documents that will allow her remains to be brought back to the Philippines from California, USA. As of this writing, it is still unsure when Mercy’s remains will arrive in the country.
