Atty. Stephen David, Alice Guo’s Lawyer, Speaks on Arrest of Former Mayor
Alice Guo’s lawyer, Attorney Stephen David, believes that the former Mayor will answer the accusations against her.
The Indonesian authorities arrested Alice Guo in Indonesia. The Philippines has alerted the ASEAN ambassadors regarding her case in the country and the foreign authorities responded to the call of the Philippine government.
President Bongbong Marcos thanked the Indonesian authorities for their aid in the arrest of Guo. The former Mayor of Bamban, Tarlac who is facing accusations over her alleged involvement in the illegal Philippine Offshore Gaming operations in the country was arrested in Jakarta, Indonesia.
Previously, the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) has already expressed that the authorities are already talking about the turn-over of Guo. She is expected to return to the Philippines either Thursday or Friday.
Senate President Chiz Escudero thanked and congratulated the PH and Indonesian authorities for the arrest of former Mayor Alice Guo. She is also faced with questions about her identity.
Recently, Alice Guo’s lawyer, Atty. Stephen David, reacted to the arrest of Guo in Indonesia. To note, Guo’s lawyer previously asserted his belief that the former Mayor has not left the Philippines. After a few days, he claimed that he lost communication with the former Mayor.
Based on a report on GMA News, Atty. Stephen David believes that his client will answer all the accusations and charges filed against her. In a statement, he stressed his belief that Guo will show courage and resilience in answering the accusations against her.
Alice Guo’s lawyer appealed to the public to refrain from making “crude and malicious comments” against the former Mayor. Based on the report, he stressed her innocence unless she is proven guilty.
“Innocent …unless proven otherwise,” Atty. David said.
The lawyer of former Mayor Alice Guo also asks the public to refrain from making “baseless accusations” against his client as per the report. According to him, all the matters related to his client will be “answered in the proper forum”.
Senator Sherwin Gatchalian believes that Guo must face the serious charges filed against her. It was the lawmaker who previously confirmed that he has talked to the ASEAN ambassadors as he expressed his confidence that the former Mayor will not be able to leave Indonesia.
