Former Mayor Alice Guo’s Lawyer Hopeful She Will Surrender
ALICE GUO’S LAWYER – Attorney Stephen David believes that the former mayor will surrender as they have a negotiation.
Countless Filipinos were left frustrated after another known personality with a Senate arrest order has reportedly flew abroad. Former Bamban, Tarlac Mayor Alice Guo was reported to have left the Philippines.
Guo is facing several complaints in the Philippines. She was cited for contempt by the Senate after she snubbed the two (2) hearings set by the upper chamber over her alleged involvement in the Philippine Offshore Gaming operations in her town.
The dismissed Mayor of Bamban, Tarlac was also being questioned about her identity. The National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) found that Guo’s fingerprints matched with the fingerprints of Guo Hua Ping, a Chinese national who entered the country in 2003.
Several government offices and agencies filed complaints against Guo. The Office of the Solicitor General (OSG) filed a quo warranto petition while the Commission on Elections (Comelec) approved the material misrepresentation complaint against the former mayor of Bamban, Tarlac.
Recently, the Ombudsman moved to order the dismissal of Alice Guo as mayor of Bamban, Tarlac. The higher body also ruled for the forfeiture of all her retirement benefits and her disqualification from seeking public office in the Philippines again.
According to the authorities, dismissed Mayor Alice Guo exited the country through Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia and went to Singapore to meet her family. According to the Bureau of Immigration, Guo is now in Indonesia.
The sister of Alice Guo, Shiela Guo, and Cassandra Li Ong were detained in Indonesia and sent back home to the Philippines. Recently, former Mayor Alice Guo’s lawyer, Attorney Stephen David, spoke on his client.
Based on a report on GMA News citing 24 Oras news, Atty. Stephen David did not discuss the whereabouts of Guo but he is hopeful that she will surrender to the authorities. According to him, they have negotiation.
“Hindi naman natin alam kung nasa Indonesia siya pero ako, I’m very hopeful na meron akong negotiation for her to face the court, to surrender and I believe in a very near future, sooner than we expect darating siya at haharap,” former Mayor Alice Guo’s lawyer said.
David also expressed that she does not need to be arrested or caught. According to the lawyer of the former Mayor, they are confident that they can defend her in court. He stressed that Guo is just worried about her safety but she is “very cooperative”.
