Davao City Mayor Baste Duterte Speaks on PNP’s Pursuit to Arrest Pastor Apollo Quiboloy
BASTE DUTERTE – Davao City Mayor Sebastian Duterte reacted to PNP trooping in at the KOJC compound in the pursuit of arresting Pastor Apollo Quiboloy.
Currently, there are several high-profile personalities who have arrest orders but have yet to be located by the authorities. One of them is Kingdom of Jesus Christ (KOJC) founder and leader Pastor Apollo Quiboloy.
Quiboloy is facing complaints not only within the Philippines but as well as in the United States. After snubbing the hearing set by the Senate for the investigation of the claims against him, the upper chamber issued an arrest order against the Pastor.
However, for several months now since an arrest order was released, the authorities have yet to locate Pastor Apollo Quiboloy. He remains unarrested even amid a reward money for information that could lead to the arrest of Pastor Quiboloy.
There are speculations that the Pastor is being kept by someone with power in Davao City. However, previously, only a co-accused of Pastor Apollo Quiboloy was arrested in Davao City.
On Saturday morning, some 2,000 personnel of the Philippine National Police trooped in at the KOJC compound in Davao City in the pursuit to arrest Quiboloy. However, the supporters of Quiboloy and the members of the KOJC also makes a huge number to protest the presence of the police in the area.
Recently, Davao City Mayor Baste Duterte reacted to the PNP trooping in at the KOJC compound in the pursuit to serve the arrest order against Pastor Apollo Quiboloy. Based on a report on GMA News Online, the Davao City Mayor and brother of Vice President Sara Duterte questioned the duration of the stay of the PNP at the compound.
“This situation has already caused inconvenience to motorists, businesses, and the public. The public seeks clarification from the PNP, how long do you intend to stay?” Davao City Mayor Baste Duterte said.
Based on the report, the Davao City Mayor claimed that the PNP personnel led by General Marbil and General Torre are no longer abiding the proper procedure in implementing warrant of arrest. According to Duterte, as much as he wanted to intervene in the situation, he knows that the PNP personnel will only listen to their chief and to Commander-in-Chief Bongbong Marcos.
Mayor Baste Duterte appealed to the members of the KOJC to do their protest “in a peaceful manner” and to not do activities that can disrupt the flow of the traffic for their safety as well as those of the public.
