Julia Montes On “Tumataba Ka” Remarks

This is what Julia Montes said about this negative comment from other people.

ABS-CBN actress Julia Montes steps forwards to cancel body shaming as she has experienced this and knows what it feels like.

Body shaming is lurking everywhere and no matter the status of someone, he or she faces this comment from people who are insensitive with their words. They are the uninvited guests who put shade on someone’s shine.

Actress Julia Montes is aware of this as she has experienced this firsthand and she knows exactly what if feels and what happens after receiving this kind of negative comment. To undo this reality for others and to end this unfortunate remarks, she stepped forward to raise awareness as to how this comment affects the subjects.

Alexa Ilacad have experienced body shaming along with other actresses such as Lovi Poe and Kylie Verzosa. Whether someone is fat or slim, it doesn’t matter to people who ae focus only on saying negative comments.

Since Montes was young, she always has this puffy cheeks but this has never become her source of insecurity. However, this was until she was compared to other celebrities of her age. The insecurity grew when people compared her to petite actresses and despite being blessed with height, people still see something wrong about it and said words that were clearly body-shaming her.

“Lagi ka nako-compare. So yun palang growing up, ano na siya, nag-build na siya sa iyo ng something, negativity,” she said.

As someone with a platform, she is now using it to advocate for body positivity. This is something she believes should start at home. She knows that people are used to saying “tumaba ka” as greetings in a gathering, especially family gatherings, but this is where it actually should start.

The insecurity of someone will just grow that he or she would just rather not attend so as not to hear this. She expressed that everyone should have an open mind regardless of age. Being older is not a license to do it.

In handling this kind of remark, what she’d just always say is, “May pambili ng pagkain.”
