Class Suspensions on Tuesday (August 20, 2024) Due to Vog From Taal

WALANG PASOK – Various local government units have declared class suspensions due to volcanic smog from Taal Volcano.

The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS) is closely monitoring Taal Volcano, which remains at Alert Level 1, indicating ongoing volcanic activity. Taal is emitting volcanic smog, or vog affecting various areas.

Vog is a form of air pollution that contains volcanic gases like sulfur dioxide, which can cause irritation to the eyes, throat, and respiratory system, posing health risks to the public.
