Vice Pres. Duterte turned-over the DepEd secretary post to Sen. Sonny Angara yesterday. The turn-over ceremony was held at the DepEd Complex in Pasig City. Prior to Duterte handing over the department’s seal and flag to Angara, she toured the new DepEd Secretary at the building.

When the Vice President resigned from her post in the education department and in the Cabinet of Pres. Bongbong Marcos, there were also speculations that First Lady Araneta Marcos has something to do with it.

Recently, Vice Pres. Sara Duterte clarified that First Lady Liza Araneta-Marcos had nothing to do with her decision to leave the Cabinet of Pres. Bongbong Marcos. She stressed that she is leaving the DepEd “with a heavy heart” as she loves her work and the people that she worked with.

Duterte admitted that she has regrets as she really wanted to finish what the Marcos administration wants to deliver through the education department. Based on a report on ABS-CBN News, the Vice President said that she has reasons for leaving the Marcos cabinet which includes both personal and work.

“Mayroong personal sa aming dalawa ni President Marcos which stems from iyong napag-usapan namin bago ako pumayag na tumakbo as Vice President. Mayroon siyang sa trabaho, mayroon siyang sa bayan,” Duterte said.

According to Vice Pres. Duterte, it is a long story and they need a sit-down. Based on the article, she stressed that the First Lady is not involved in her and the President’s work. According to her, the reasons behind her decision needs a sit-down as there are multiple reasons that have mixed together.
