Yen was previously the center of bashing and hateful comments amid the rumors that she was in a relationship with Kapuso actor Paolo Contis. She was even tagged as the alleged third party in the breakup of Paolo and LJ Reyes.
Paolo and Yen worked together in the film A Faraway Land. A few months after they worked together in the film, the actor and LJ with whom he has a daughter broke up.
Sightings of Paolo Contis and Yen Santos together amid the issues regarding the breakup of the former couple ignited the rumors that she was involved in their separation. Then, Paolo explained that she was with him in Baguio “as a friend”.
In January 2023, the actor confirmed that he and Yen are in a relationship. However, after several months, breakup rumors crossed the surface.
